What are the Avelo Airlines baggage fees?
Avelo Airlines baggage policy will allow you one free personal item and one carry-on bag. Your first checked bag will cost $30 and your second checked bag will cost $40. However, there are several ways to avoid charges with Avelo Airlines.

How can I avoid baggage fees?
There are a few ways to avoid baggage fees on Avelo Airlines.
Credit cards
One of the advantages of the Avelo Airlines Visa Signature credit card is that you can get the first checked bag free for you and up to six companions. This card also comes with other benefits like 3X on Avelo Airlines purchases and a 50% discount on Avelo Lounge day passes. The Avelo Airlines Visa Business Credit Card also offers free checked bags for up to six companions.
Chase Sapphire Reserve is one of the best travel rewards credit cards. Earn triple points on dining and travel and it comes with a host of valuable benefits. One of these benefits is a $300 travel credit that can be used on anything that is coded as travel, including baggage fees for Avelo.
Capital One Venture Rewards Credit Card
One of my favorite cards to cover miscellaneous travel purchases is the Capital One Venture card. It's a popular credit card that comes with a $500 early spend bonus after spending $3,000 in the first three months.
You get 2% cash back on all travel purchases and points can be used to cover virtually any travel purchase. This means that you can purchase your baggage fees with this card and then receive a refund.
American Express Cards
Some American Express cards, such as the Platinum Card and Gold Card, come with airline credits that can be used on Avelo Airlines website. These credits cover various airline incidentals like baggage fees, and you can earn credits of up to $200!
Baggage Fee Waivers
Avelo offers baggage fee waivers for credit card holders and others.
The following people are eligible to check their first bag for free:
Eligible Avelo Plane Tickets Visa cardholders and up to 6 other passengers traveling on the same reservation.
Avelo Airlines Visa Business cardholders and up to 6 passengers traveling on the same reservation
Avelo Airlines World Elite Mastercard cardholders and up to 6 passengers traveling on the same reservation.
Customers traveling in First Class
Elite Mileage Plan™ members and companions traveling on the same reservation
Club 49® members traveling on a ticket containing at least one Avelo Airlines city in Avelo
Customers ticketed for travel within the state of Avelo cheap flights only
Active duty US military personnel with valid military ID (more information below)
Dependents of active duty US military with valid military ID and travel orders
Avelo Airlines personal item
Avelo Airline cancellation policy allows you to bring personal items, which are usually something like a purse, briefcase, or laptop bag.
Backpacks are generally allowed as long as they are on the smaller side and can fit under your seat.
Avelo Airlines hand luggage
The carry-on size limit for Avelo Airlines changed to 22" x 14" x 9'.
The 3 measurements: length + height + width; they cannot add up to more than 45 inches.
Any baggage (including free checked baggage) in excess of the size or weight allowance is subject to the additional fees described below.
If you are traveling with a pet carrier, it will be considered a carry-on or personal item.
Tip: You can download a baggage identification tag and place it in your carry-on bag to make the identification and return process much faster if it is lost.
Avelo Airlines checked baggage fees
Avelo Airlines has some of the best baggage fees for checked baggage.

Compared to United's policy, you'll save more than $50 on your third checked bag. Of course, Avelo's Refund Policy can't compete with Southwest's baggage policy that allows you to take two checked bags for free.
Avelo Airlines checked baggage restrictions
Oversized or overweight luggage
Bags weighing 51 to 100 pounds: $100
Bags with linear dimension from 63 to 115 inches (linear): $100
If a checked bag belongs to more than one rate category (number of pieces, oversized, overweight), only the highest single rate is charged. This is different from other airlines that charge you based on each category you violate.

Maximum weight and length
No single piece of checked baggage may weigh more than 100 pounds or exceed 115 inches.
If you have baggage over that size, please contact Avelo Air Cargo at for assistance with any items that exceed the checked baggage allowance.
During peak travel periods, Avelo may limit the number of bags that can be checked per passenger.

Musical instruments
Small musical instruments may count as your only carry-on baggage and may exceed standard carry-on baggage dimensions, as long as they can be safely stored in a suitable storage compartment in the aircraft cabin.

Instruments are subject to the following checked baggage service charges and overweight/oversize charges:
50 pounds or less: Standard checked baggage fees
51-165 pounds: $100 (USD)
Up to 62″ (linear): Standard checked baggage rates
63-150″ (linear) Avelo Airlines flights 1-1999 only: $100 (USD)
63-115″ (linear) Avelo Airlines manage booking 2000-2999 and 3420-3499: $100 (USD)
smart bags
“Smart bags” (baggage with charging devices or using a lithium battery-powered electric motor) will only be accepted as checked or carry-on baggage if the lithium battery can be removed due to a potential security risk.

Avelo Airlines Military Baggage Fees
Avelo Airlines truly cares about the military.
Active duty US military personnel with a valid military ID are allowed five free bags and $100 for each additional bag. They can also bring bags weighing up to 70 pounds and up to 115″ without incurring oversize or overweight fees.
Dependents of active duty US military with valid military ID and travel orders receive the same benefits.
If you're on active duty, you can also get priority boarding.
When is it possible to check-in for Avelo Airlines?
Avelo Airlines pet policy will accept your checked baggage at the airport from 4 hours before your flight time to approximately 1 hour before your flight time. View ticket sales hours and check-in deadline specific to your airport.
However, there are a couple of exceptions (due to prior clearance from US Customs):
Vancouver (YVR) can only accept bags three hours before departure.
Calgary (YYC) can only accept bags two hours before departure.
layover luggage
If your trip includes more than one flight on Avelo Airlines Reservation and/or one of its partner airlines, Avelo will check your baggage to the final destination on your ticket as long as there are less than 12 hours between flights.
If your layover is 12 hours or more, you will need to claim and re-check your baggage and please note that additional baggage charges may apply.
Lost or damaged luggage
If your bags are delayed upon arrival or damaged, be sure to report the situation in person within 24 hours of arrival time.
If you don't, you will likely be denied compensation.
You must take into account the 20-minute baggage guarantee:
If your bags are not at baggage claim within 20 minutes of your plane's arrival at the gate, Avelo will offer you a $25 discount code to use on a future Avelo Airlines flight, or 2,500 miles Avelo bonus.
