With ticket prices as low as they are today, baggage fees and allowances are more of a reality. Avelo Airlines is like any other low-cost airline and charges each passenger for carry-on and checked baggage with different allowances than other airlines.

In this article, I'll explain baggage allowances, baggage fees when you fly, military baggage benefits, sports equipment allowances, and how to report your lost or damaged baggage to Avelo Airlines.

What are the Avelo Airlines baggage fees?

Avelo Airlines Baggage Policy is one of the few ultra-low-cost carriers (ULCC) that operates domestically within the US. That means you only get one personal item for free, while carry-on and checked baggage are subject to segment fees.

For carry-on baggage you can expect to pay $10 to $75 and for checked baggage you can expect to pay $18 to $50.

Below, I detail the rates and baggage allowances of Avelo Airlines.

How can I avoid Avelo Airlines baggage fees?

Avelo Airlines Deals is not Southwest with its free baggage. In fact, their baggage fees vary in price, resulting in cheap or expensive. Fortunately, if you're a smart traveler, you can avoid those pesky fees.

Credit cards

Since Avelo Plane Tickets has no other option for fees and no other loyalty program to waive baggage fees. Your only option to eliminate or reduce the cost of baggage fees is to use a credit card.

Avelo Airlines Personal Items and Carry-On Restrictions

Each passenger can bring one free personal item, but carry-on baggage does not fly free.

personal item

You can bring one personal item on board and it can be anything that can fit under the seat in front of you. Personal items must not exceed:

7 in. x 15 in. x 16 in. (17.8 cm x 38.1 cm x 40.6 cm) maximum

As long as it fits under the seat in front of you and meets the requirements, you can bring it for free. Some examples of personal items would be a briefcase, purse, backpack, food container, and camera bag.

There is no free carry-on baggage when flying Avelo Airlines refund policy. That means you'll be subject to charges at the time of booking, before check-in, or at the airport for carry-on baggage. If you decide to take a carry-on bag with you, the carry-on bag must not exceed:

9 in. x 14 in. x 22 in. (22.9 cm x 35.6 cm x 55.9 cm) maximum

A roller bag, garment bag or tote bag, not exceeding the size requirements and fitting in the overhead compartment.

Liquids

The same TSA standards apply to Avelo Airlines flights arriving or departing from the US. You can review a list provided by the TSA of permitted and prohibited items which may be included in carry-on baggage including the 3-1-1 Liquids Rule.

If you don't want to take out liquids, electronics, or take off your shoes, Pre-Check is a life saver for saving time and the hassle of security. Avelo Airlines is one of the airlines that allows Pre-Check to their passengers. If you travel more than once or twice a year, Pre-Check can change the way you think about airport security when flying within the USA.

Avelo Airlines baggage fees

Avelo Airlines uses a variable baggage fee system, and it depends entirely on the route. That means, there will be cheaper routes and more expensive routes when it comes to carry-on and checked baggage fees.

Each fee is per segment, and you can use Avelo Airlines's baggage fee calculator here.

At booking: $10 to $20

Knowing whether you'll need a carry-on or checked baggage before you book your flight is vital, as fees are expensive when adding baggage at the airport.

Similar to carry-on baggage fees, Avelo Airlines bills the range of baggage fees based on when you add the bag and the route.

Please note that you can only check up to 4 bags with Avelo Airlines manage booking. Each bag must weigh 40 pounds (18 kg) or less and 80 inches (203 cm) maximum height + width + length. I go into the specs and assignments below.

Avelo Airlines checked baggage

Avelo Airlines checked baggage allowance is:

40 lbs (18 kg) and 80 inches (203 cm) overall size

If your checked baggage exceeds the above limit, you will be subject to one or more excess checked baggage charges.

Avelo Airlines excess checked baggage charges

If your baggage exceeds 40 pounds and/or 80 inches in total size, you will be required to pay excess checked baggage fees.

Overweight fee from 40 lbs to 70 lbs (18 kg to 32 kg): $50

Overweight fee from 71 lbs to 100 lbs (32 kg to 45.4 kg): $75

Oversize fee: $75

These fees are in addition to regular checked baggage fees.

Therefore, if your bag weighs more than 40 pounds, you will be subject to the baggage fees you paid when booking, before check-in or at the airport, and the $50 excess checked baggage fee. That means it can cost you more than $100 if you add checked luggage at the airport and it weighs more than 40 pounds.

Again, knowing if you need to check luggage or have a carry-on is key before you book. It may be cheaper to check two bags rather than pay the overweight fee for one bag.

Sports baggage on Avelo Airlines flights

Sports equipment is treated as regular checked baggage with the same maximum weight and size requirements, along with the same fees.

If you check sports equipment such as skis or a snowboard, as long as it weighs less than 40 pounds and less than 80 inches total, you will not be subject to excess baggage charges. Therefore, you will only have to pay the standard checked baggage fee shown above.

Some examples of sports equipment are:

bowling team

Golf equipment

hockey stick and equipment

diving equipment

Skateboards

archery equipment

Fishing team

Shotgun, rifle or pistol

For more information on checked sports equipment, please refer to the Avelo Airlines Destination FAQ at the bottom of the page that explains how to check sports equipment.
